Weekend Finds!!!

So I went a little crazy this weekend. I am trying so hard to save myself for the market in Germany, but that all went to hell in a hand basket yesterday! It started when I went to the flea market on 25th and 6th the outdoor garage and found a milk glass candy dish holder for $3 which now holds my jewelery. I than made my way up to flea market in hells kitchen and found my most coveted item "the eagle mirror" I have been wanting it forever!!! Which is exciting because I know it will compliment my new black wall and it was only $10 (yay!). I finally did the last leg of my scavenger hut of goods on 23rd street between 3rd and 2nd. I found the lovely creamer in a thrift store on 3rd ave for $5 and the gold tray at Housing works for $6 which I think will look great on the rast dresser I'm going to get from Ikea and paint black for my entrance way. I scored some new artwork for a song because they were at the City Opera and everything was 50% off!!! The pieces were $5 for the fruit and flowers and $17 for the girl a little pricey but she looks great on the black wall. Lastly I was over the moon to find the 4 nesting milk glass mixing bowls at goodwill for $6 which is amazing considering whenever I have seen them they have gone for waaaaay more!!
My hallway almost complete, I just need the dresser and hopefully the hicks pendant light (fingers crossed!) also some more pictures coming up the stairs but I can be patient about that. Well that's all folks!!!! I'm saving myself for Germany.

Danke!!

Shoe Storage Lust!!

I love this and wish I had that many shoes to fill bookshelves. I definitely think I will try this in my closet at home. Once I'm done decorating my room I am going to "Pimp my Closet".

Here is a quick recap of my week I have been watching my friend's dog and running around on Castings, Job's etc. I wanted to introduce you to Willkommen Wednesday which will chronicle my attempt to learn to speak German I have been struggling a bit with the Key Wort (word) like Was means what and Wer means who very confusing I tell you! my new phrase of the week is actually I have several;

Was ist los= What is wrong
Wer ist das= Who is that
Wo ist eine toilette
of course all German W words are pronounced with a V sound so Wo sounds like Voh and Was sounds like Vahs hence the reason my boyfriend sometimes says Vhere are we going.....so cute!!!

Lust List!

So at least once a week I am going to share with you things that I am lusting for in my life. Right now I am obsessed with the Hicks Pendant Light from Thomas O'Brien.....I neeeeeed it, I can totally picture it in my hallway it will complement my black wall so well they are meant to be together. This may sound strange but I would like to have a luggage holder my boyfriend has a white suitcase that I think it would look great on, J'adore the one in India Hicks home. I am always looking for coffee table books and I must have Alice Neel's Painted Truth, I love that style of painting. Lastly I am coveting a long skirt preferably black, they look so cozy.

I have done it!!

I have been dying to paint the arm rail going up the stairs black and I had an idea to paint the wall at the top of the stairs black as well. I am not to keen on painting one wall but for some reason I had an inkling that it would look good. I LOVE it!!!! I will show you pictures tomorrow because unfortunately I have a terrible headache from the paint fumes and I am going to bed:(

Thrifting!!!

I have some new additions to my bathroom picture gallery that I want to share with you the first one is Moby Dick I found this paint by numbers boat at Junk in Williamsburg for $10 it will be perfect for the beach house I will own someday!!! The second I bought from a street vendor for $5 I will call it royal court I love finding stuff like that for dirt cheap. Lastly the new addition I found yesterday is Nettie that is the name my friend gave her. I love her yellow dress and she was $5 also at the flea market on 25th and 6th. Of course in all of these photos there is a hint of seafoam green which compliments the tile trim in my bathroom. Yay! It's really rainy and gross today so I'm going to snuggle under the covers with my daughter watch movies and eat some popcorn. Yum!

House Tour Part 3

Please forgive my lapses in posting. I am generally not home during the day in the week because I am usually pounding the pavement going to castings or work. Yes I could do it when I get home but by the time I make dinner and make sure Michaela has her homework done I am completely knackered! My Blogging day's are best saved for the weekend.

I am now introducing you to my living room and kitchen. They are both filled with trinkets I love or things that remind me of Canada. The Bus Scroll behind the couch was a birthday present from my friend she has heaps of them!! The stops Scarborough and Whitby were of course my main attraction since I am from Toronto. The mirror beside the couch was a steal literally! When I lived in a sublet in Chinatown. The sublet was given up and since the tenant was out of the country I inherited the mirror which he found on the street!!! I think I want to put a Canadian Flag above it but am still debating. My sewing lady was given to me when my friend was downsizing here apartment. I love it because it reminds me of my mother aunts and grandmother since they all are seamstresses. The chair I purchased at the City Opera Thrift store on 23rd street for a mere $25 I covered the seat cushion with part of an old sheet until I decide what fabric I want to use. The rug is a runner that my friend was going to throw out so once again Jakob was my champion and brought it to my house. I thought it would fit in my hallway but it was too wide so I moved the cowskin to my room and put the runner in the living room. I think it looks good.

My dining table my mother got me for Christmas since she knew I was lusting after it I of course painted it white. Two of the chairs are from Junk in Williamsburg and one was found on the street. My boyfriend hates them all because he's lugged them all to my house! I love JFK and Jakie hence the salt and pepper shakers, my friend gave them to me as a house warming gift because of course I was lusting after them when I visited her in her home town in South Jersey.
The Kitchen is filled with my milk glass collection my mini bar, and Good ole Abe. Well that is my home in a nutshell please follow me on my journey as I work to complete my it!
